Alma Medford Massie, age 83, of Justice Ridge Road went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Park Ridge Hospital in Hendersonville.
She was a native of Haywood County, but lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Eliza Cunningham Medford. She was also preceded in death by two sisters Hazel and Hannah and brother Howard.
Mrs. Massie was a graduate of Bethel High School and a very active member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. She was a very devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Massie; three daughters, Jane Hammond of Asheville, Nancy Liang and her husband, Wilkie of Sacramento, CA and Judy Crawford and her husband, Bill of Candler; two sons, Sam Massie of Dallas, NC and Jerry Massie of Candler; nine grandchildren, Bryan Massie, Heather Taylor and her husband, Terry, Brad Hammond and his wife, Sherrie, Joey Hammond, Julie Whitehurst and her husband, Jonathan, Jamie Massie, Adam Liang, Jordon and Colby Crawford; four great-grandchildren, Kelly Evans, Mason and Madison Loftis and Shane Hammond; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at the family residence, 682 Justice Ridge Road, Candler, NC.
