Waynesville, Mattie W. "Bill" Hendrix, age 85, died Thursday, February 4, 2010 at her residence.
She was a native of Jackson County, but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Estella Wood Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ralph S. Hendrix, who died in 1985;a son, Ronnie Hendrix; daughter in-law, Chris Hendrix; two sisters, Frankie Franklin and Wilma Sager and a brother, Wiley Williams. Bill was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and prepared Wednesday night dinners prior to her illness. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling.
She is survived by one son, Charles E. Hendrix and his wife, Judy, of Hampton, VA; one sister, Annette Noles of Hopewell, NC; four grandchildren, Shannon, Jared and Teresa Hendrix; and Jennifer Shuping and her husband, Greg, and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Grace Shuping.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with the Reverend Tim Lolley officiating. Burial will be held at Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
