Sherman Crawford, age 66, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home surrounded by his family.

He was native of Haywood County, and the son of the late Sherman and Mae Burrell Crawford. Sherman resided for 18 years in Rogersville, AL, returning to Haywood County after his retirement from International Paper in Alabama in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Frizzell Crawford, who died on November 16, 2009, a brother, Bobby Crawford, and infant twin sisters, Judith Jeralyn and Alma Aileen Crawford. Sherman was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Miami Dolphins football and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by a son, Michael M. Crawford and his wife, Cindy, of Canton; a daughter, Tabatha C. Henson and her husband, Bret, of Canton; two brothers, Jerry Crawford and his wife, Norma, and Avery Crawford and his wife, Shelbia; six grandchildren, Brittany Warren and her husband, Will, Spencer and Seth Henson, Levi Crawford and his wife, Ashley, and Jasmine and Will Crawford; and one great-grandchild, Jade Crawford.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Mark Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
