Roger Neil Surrett, age 36, of Sandy Mush Road died on Monday, March 8, 2010, at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus.

A native of Madison County, Little Sandy Mush community, he was the son of the Reed and Ruth Ann Reemes Surrett of Marshall. He was preceded in death by Greg Surrett, a dearly loved cousin, thought to be a brother to him; his maternal grandparents, Willie Robert and Geneva King Reemes and his paternal grandparents, William and Ruth Surrett. He was a self-employed logger. Roger loved riding 4-wheelers, stock car racing, hunting, and camping with his friends and family. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Roger's daughter was and will always be the "apple of his eye". He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and son.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 14 years, Tina H. Surrett; a daughter, Lori Katlin Surrett of Marshall; best friends, Terry Gantt and his wife, Jody, of Canton; business partner and friend, Tommy Boyd of Leicester; and several supportive friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Allen Rash and Reverend Dwight Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Church Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Terry Gantt, Chad Surrett, Tommy Boyd, Mark and Daniel Worley, and Jonathan Penland.
